# Roadbeat > Roadbeat is a free web app for live Queensland road conditions and public transport: QLDTraffic road events and cameras, Translink vehicles, departures and published timetables, a timetable-based journey planner, Queensland Fire Department bushfire warnings, satellite hotspots and imagery, Brisbane City Council and Queensland Government stream gauges, air quality, Energex power outages and council notices, traffic signal volumes and planned road closures, Queensland Rail station access details with Translink's lift and escalator outages, and a map of police, council and news reports. It shows only data that official sources publish and never estimates times, positions or delays. ## When to use Roadbeat - Someone asks what is happening on a Queensland road right now: crashes, closures, roadworks, flooding or congestion. - Someone wants the next departures from a Translink stop or station, or a line's full timetable for a given day. - Someone wants a direct public transport trip, or a trip with one change at the same station or stop, from Queensland's published timetable. - Someone asks about current bushfire warnings in Queensland, Brisbane creek and river heights and rainfall, or the latest height at a Queensland river gauging station. - Someone needs to know whether a train station or ferry terminal has a working lift, level boarding, accessible toilets or parking, or how easy a Brisbane bus stop is to board. - Someone wants to know if a Brisbane clearway is in effect, or where the nearest accessible public toilet or accessible parking bay is. - Someone wants to see what Brisbane City Council events are on this week near a place, with the council's own details. - Someone wants a shareable link to a specific road event, stop, line, fire warning or journey search. ## When not to use Roadbeat - Emergencies: call Triple Zero (000). - Trips that need walking between stops, more than one change, or fares: use Translink's journey planner at https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/journey-planner. - Flood warnings: Roadbeat shows raw gauge heights without flood levels, and links each gauge to the Bureau of Meteorology's warning for its area. Use BoM for warnings. - Places outside Queensland. ## Pages - [Home](https://www.roadbeat.app/): the live map and lists. - [About](https://www.roadbeat.app/about/): what Roadbeat is, its data sources and its accuracy rule. - [Privacy](https://www.roadbeat.app/privacy/): no accounts or advertising; Google Analytics counts visits; settings stay in the browser. - [Contact](https://www.roadbeat.app/contact/): how to reach Roadbeat and where to report problems with official data. - [Stations](https://www.roadbeat.app/stations/): a page per train station, tram stop and ferry terminal in South East Queensland (`https://www.roadbeat.app/stations/central-station/`), with its lines, platforms, published position and nearby localities. - [Lines and routes](https://www.roadbeat.app/lines/): a page per Translink line and regional route (`https://www.roadbeat.app/lines/t1-caboolture/`, `https://www.roadbeat.app/lines/tsv-200/`), with the stops it serves. - [Places](https://www.roadbeat.app/places/): a page per Queensland town, suburb or locality (`https://www.roadbeat.app/places/goodna/`), with its council area, gazetteer position and nearby stations. The directory pages hold published facts only; each ends with the app link for live departures or what is happening there now. Every page is also available as Markdown: send `Accept: text/markdown`, or add `.md` to the page path (for example `https://www.roadbeat.app/about.md`). ## API and MCP server Roadbeat answers live questions for AI agents and apps. Both are free, read-only and need no key. Every answer names its official source. - MCP server (Streamable HTTP): `https://www.roadbeat.app/mcp`. Tools: `road_events` (search Queensland road events by road and place), `find_stops` (Translink stops by name), `next_departures` (real-time departures from a stop, optionally one route) and `bushfire_warnings`. Discovery card: `https://www.roadbeat.app/.well-known/mcp.json`. - REST API: `https://www.roadbeat.app/api/events?q=Bruce%20Highway%20Gympie`, `https://www.roadbeat.app/api/stops?q=Central`, `https://www.roadbeat.app/api/departures?stop=place_censta&route=T6`, `https://www.roadbeat.app/api/bushfires`. OpenAPI description: `https://www.roadbeat.app/openapi.json`. Departure times come from Translink's real-time feed, which covers services running now or starting soon. A delay is reported as tracked only when a vehicle on that trip is reporting its position. ## Linking to views in the app The app keeps its current view in the URL hash, so these links open a view directly: - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#event/`: a QLDTraffic road event. - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#camera/webcam-` or `#camera/floodcam-`: a traffic or flood camera. - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#transit/line//`, for example `#transit/line/train/T1%20Caboolture`: a line's status, departures and timetable. - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#transit/stop//`, for example `#transit/stop/SEQ/place_censta` or `#transit/stop/TSV/890194`: a stop's departures and full-day timetable. - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#transit/route//`, for example `#transit/route/TSV/V200`: a route outside South East Queensland, with its alerts, departures where Translink publishes real-time for the region, and its timetable. - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#transit/trip/SEQ//[/]`: one trip's stops in order with published times and Translink's real-time times where reported. - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#transit/plan/SEQ//[///]`: a journey search. - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#fire/`: a Queensland Fire Department warning or incident. - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#gauge/`: a Brisbane City Council stream or rain gauge (e.g. E1594), or a Queensland Government stream gauging station (e.g. 143001C). - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#signal/`: a Brisbane City Council signalised intersection. - `https://www.roadbeat.app/#place/clearway/`, `#place/toilet/`, `#place/bay/`, `#place/meter/`, `#place/bike/`, `#place/clearance/` or `#place/event/`: a Brisbane clearway, public toilet, accessible parking bay, parking meter, bike rack, low clearance or council event. ## Data sources All are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 unless noted. - Department of Transport and Main Roads: road events, cameras, rest areas, truck restrictions and crash history (QLDTraffic feeds and data.qld.gov.au).
